How We Handle a No-Heat Call
Flat-Rate Pricing
You get a fixed repair price before we begin, not an hourly meter running while the technician works. The price you agree to is the price you pay.
Answered Around the Clock
Our emergency line runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, holidays included — at no overtime premium. Furnaces do not fail during business hours.
Every Make and Model
We repair every major brand regardless of who installed it, and we stock the parts that fail most often in Ottawa homes.
Red Tag? Free Second Opinion
If another company has red-tagged your furnace, call us before you agree to a replacement. A second opinion costs you nothing and sometimes changes the answer.
Repair or Replace, Honestly
If a repair makes sense we will repair it, even when a replacement would earn us more. You get both numbers and you decide.
Guaranteed Work
Parts and labour are guaranteed in writing. If the same fault returns, we come back.
What to Do Before We Arrive
Check the obvious things first — they solve a surprising number of no-heat calls and cost you nothing. Make sure the thermostat is set to heat and the batteries are good. Check the furnace switch on the wall beside it has not been knocked off. Check the breaker.
If the filter has not been changed in months, a badly restricted filter can trip the limit switch and shut the furnace down entirely. Replacing it sometimes brings the system straight back.
If none of that works, switch the system off and call us. Repeatedly resetting a furnace that keeps locking out can turn a small fault into an expensive one.
Faults We See Most
- Ignitor failure — the most common no-heat cause, and usually a same-visit fix.
- Flame sensor fouling — the furnace lights then shuts down seconds later.
- Blocked condensate — high-efficiency furnaces lock out when the drain backs up.
- Pressure switch — often a blocked intake or exhaust, especially after heavy snow.
- Limit switch tripping — restricted airflow from a dirty filter or closed vents.
Common Questions
How fast can you get here?
For no-heat calls we aim for the same day, and the emergency line runs through the night all winter. Give us your postal code and we will tell you a realistic window.
Do you charge to come out?
There is a diagnostic fee, quoted before the visit is booked. If you go ahead with the repair, it comes off the invoice.
My furnace was red-tagged. What now?
A red tag means a certified technician judged it unsafe to operate. Call us for a free second opinion before committing to a replacement.
Is it worth repairing an old furnace?
As a rule of thumb, if it is over fifteen years old and the repair costs more than about a third of a replacement, replacing usually costs less over the next five years.
