How We Handle a No-Cooling Call

Flat-Rate Pricing

A fixed repair price agreed before we begin, not an hourly meter running while the technician works.

Seven Days a Week

Cooling failures cluster in the first hot week of the year. We staff for it rather than pushing you to next week.

Every Make and Model

We repair every major brand regardless of who installed it, and carry the parts that fail most often.

Leak Found, Not Just Topped Up

Refrigerant does not get used up. If it is low there is a leak, and simply recharging it means paying again next season. We find it.

Honest Repair-or-Replace Advice

If a repair makes sense we repair it, even when a replacement would earn us more. You get both numbers.

Guaranteed Work

Parts and labour guaranteed in writing. If the same fault returns, we come back.

Before You Call

A few checks solve a surprising share of no-cooling calls. Confirm the thermostat is set to cool and the batteries are good. Check the breaker for the outdoor unit — a tripped breaker is common after a power interruption.

Look at the filter. A badly clogged filter restricts airflow enough to freeze the indoor coil, and a frozen coil stops cooling entirely. If you find ice on the pipes, switch the system to fan only for a few hours to thaw it before we arrive, and leave the cooling off.

If the outdoor unit is buried in leaves or grass clippings, clearing a foot of space around it helps more than people expect.

Faults We See Most

  • Capacitor failure — the fan hums but will not start. Common and usually a same-visit fix.
  • Refrigerant leak — cooling fades gradually over a season.
  • Frozen evaporator coil — nearly always airflow or refrigerant.
  • Blocked condensate drain — water around the furnace below the coil.
  • Contactor burnout — the outdoor unit simply never starts.

Common Questions

How fast can you come out?

For no-cooling calls we aim for same or next day, and we run extended hours through the summer.

Why does my AC freeze up?

Almost always restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Both need diagnosing — running it frozen risks the compressor, which is the expensive part.

Can you just add refrigerant?

We can, but if it is low there is a leak. Topping up without finding it means paying for the same refrigerant again next year.

Is it worth repairing an older unit?

If it is over twelve years old, uses discontinued R-22 refrigerant, or the compressor has failed, replacement is usually the cheaper answer over a few seasons.
